- Humans: One of the least common races of Duer, humans live to about 80 years, but sometimes can exceed that. They range in height from about 5' to 6'5'' in height. They are generally considered unequal to other species but show amazing talent is sorcery and magic.
- Dragon riders: They are a special brand of people, who are bonded intimately with a dragon. Half-way between a human and an elf, these dragon riders are more powerful and fast than humans and sometimes possess the skills of magic. The dragons are semi-sentient, who are able to communicate mentally with their riders but must not go very far from them. They are very common in House Josha.
- Elves: Not very populace in Duer, though more so in Agarkan, elves are characterized by slightly refined features and pointed ears. They are faster than the average human and have an upper hand in a one-on-one fight but are great disadvantaged in a warring situation.
- Dwarfs: Dwarfs are found in Duer in large numbers, characterized by their fierce nature and short stature.
- Minotaurs: Brave, valiant fighters, minotaurs are half-bull and half-man and most believe fighting to be their tradition. They do not generally live in groups, preferring to be alone.
- Rejegh: Creatures similar to the dragons in pure form, these scaled beings are more intelligent than dragons and can change into a humanoid form. They never bond with riders. They can live to be more than 1000, but rarely more than 1500. They are often found in the forest in the Land of Rean.
- Shifters: They can take the form of a single animal, and often retain characteristics of the animal when in human form. Excellent scouts, most are involved in the army of one or the other land.
- Mesia: Winged humans who are able to fly, but are restricted in this somewhat by weather conditions. Cannot possess magic. Strong as normal humans.
- Centaurs: Half-man and half-horse, centaurs are often master archers but rarely possess magic.
- Dryads: They are elementals having the powers of a single element. Though they may look like humans, they have certain defining features such as oddly coloured and shaped eyes, that immediately put them apart from normal humans if they are looked at closely.
- Gnome: A short race of humanoids, related to dwarves, who excel at illusion magic types and are a race of trickster, playing tricks and practical jokes on others for fun. They aren't very serious in general. They tend to be great supporters in wars. There are a good amount of them, but most don't leave their underground kingdom.
- Druidesses/ Druids: They harness the powers of nature to make certain spells and potions. They are long-lived and have strange gifts but their magic takes a long time in taking effect.
- Sorcerers/Sorceresses: They have the power of harnessing the powers of nature for their own use, but for that they need to have the particular element already available. (For eg. if they want to create a jet of water, the water has to be present already.)
- Mages: Mages can use their own life-force (also known as energy) and use it to manipulate things outside their body, like lifting a stone. However, this takes a toll on their body as the magic they have is limited by their own strength and they can get tired easily.
Want an original/already existing race that you like to be added? Send me a PM. Please note: No turned races (ie races that aren't born that way) like vampires/werewolves/ghosts will be allowed.
